Prior to worrying about securing your data, ensure you have a proper backup methodology in place. Once you have a data backup method in place, then secure your data whereever it resides. If your data is backed up by a cloud service such as Microsoft OneDrive, you need to secure your identity in that service. To secure your identity in a cloud service, use a complex password that is easy for you to remember and difficult for others to guess. Once you have a complex password set, turn on multi-factor authentication (MFA) for the account if it is available. MFA is a code generator and can be setup with either SMS text messages or an authentication app such as Microsoft Authenticator. Authentication apps are more secure than SMS messages.
